GEMTECH is, if nothing else, the company with the coolest, most loyal fans and endusers – military, law enforcement, our friendly-nation export clients, and of course the civilian sport and defensive shooters that have been with GEMTECH through our almost twenty years of providing the best kit and service in the industry.

IDPA Headquarters Shooting Team to Adopt M&Ps at 2012 Indoor Nationals

IDPA Headquarters Shooting Team to Adopt M&Ps at 2012 Indoor Nationals

BERRYVILLE, Ark. – Joyce Wilson, executive director of the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA), announced that the IDPA Headquarters Shooting Team will be competing in the 2012 Smith & Wesson IDPA Indoor National Championship, using M&P pistols manufactured by match host Smith & Wesson.

“Smith & Wesson has been a perennial supporter of the shooting sports, our Second Amendment rights and a charter supporter of IDPA. While many of the HQ staff are 1911 shooters, as a show of appreciation for Smith & Wesson’s continued support of IDPA’s local, regional and national championships, Team IDPA will compete at the Smith & Wesson match with their model M&P pistols,” announced Wilson.

The International Defensive Pistol Association, which boasts nearly 19,000 members, was established with the primary goal of providing the concealed carry permit holder with a recreational venue to practice defensive-based handgun skills.

“Smith & Wesson is proud of our long term commitment to all shooting sports, including IDPA, and are pleased to welcome the IDPA Headquarters Shooting Team at the 15th Annual Smith & Wesson Indoor National Championships. We look forward to a continued collaboration with IDPA,” said Tom Yost of Smith & Wesson.

Since its formation in 1996 IDPA has grown to become one of the most active practical pistol sports with weekly competitions held all across the country. Among those competing in IDPA competition are factory supported shooting teams like Team Smith & Wesson which has earned multiple titles and awards over the years.

The Championship, scheduled for February 23-25, 2012, in Springfield, Mass., will be held at the Smith & Wesson Shooting Sports Center. The IDPA Headquarters Shooting Team will be represented in competition by Team Captain Joyce Wilson, Robert Ray, Terry Burba and Kitty Richards.

“Team IDPA is looking forward to competing on Team Smith & Wesson’s home court and we’re putting Team S&W on notice that when the timer sounds at this year’s Indoor Nationals, they’ll need to bring their “A” game if they plan to go toe-to-toe with Team IDPA,” said Wilson, throwing down the gauntlet.

GLOCK to Introduce new Gen4 Models at 2012 SHOT Show

December 15 : 2011
GLOCK to Introduce new Gen4 Models at 2012 SHOT Show
Smyrna, GA (Dec. 13, 2011) – GLOCK’s newest generation pistol, the Gen4, brings revolutionary design changes to the world’s most popular pistol. New to the Gen4 family, GLOCK will introduce the G21 (.45 Auto), G32 (.357) and G34 (9X19) Gen4 models at the 2012 SHOT Show in Las Vegas.

The ergonomics of the Gen4 pistol have been refined by adding a Multiple Back Strap (MBS) system to the grip of the pistol. Each Gen4 comes with three difference grip options: a short, medium and large size, enabling the pistol to adapt to each individual shooter’s hand size with the removal and insertion of a single pin. In addition, the grip has also been given a new Rough Textured Frame (RTF) to increase grip traction.

The Gen4 magazine release catch has been enlarged and is reversible for the ambidextrous shooter. To utilize the interchangeable magazine release feature, the Gen4 magazines have two notches cut on each side of the magazine body, allowing users to switch access of the catch to the left or right side of the pistol with no additional parts. Previous magazines will continue to work in the Gen4 pistols as long as the magazine release catch is left in its original position.
Internally, the original recoil spring has been replaced with a dual recoil spring assembly, which noticeably reduces felt recoil while simultaneously increasing the life cycle of the pistol.

“GLOCK’s dedication to perfection has made it the chosen firearm for approximately 65% of law enforcement agencies in the United States.” said GLOCK, Inc. Vice President, Gary Fletcher. “The Gen4 models are another step in that commitment to producing the best firearm for law enforcement, military and law-abiding citizens around the world.”

The Gen4, like all GLOCK pistols, has the same tested SAFE ACTION® system, durable exterior finish, cold hammer forged barrel, durability, reliability and light weight that have made GLOCK firearms famous. All GLOCK pistols are backed by the GLOCK Limited Lifetime Warranty and world-class customer service and support that is second to none in the firearms industry.

Rep. Walsh to UN: No Gun Control Treaties

Friday, 02 December 2011 14:14

Representative Joe Walsh (R-IL) has drafted a bill that would block U.S. funding to the United Nations if it seeks to implement gun control measures affecting U.S. citizens.

Despite victories by gun owners in elections and legislative battles throughout the country in recent years, on the international front gun control is moving quickly.

Most significantly, in 2012 the UN plans to release a final draft of the Arms Trade Treaty—a treaty that will have severe consequences for American gun owners.

Meetings are held behind close doors, but from information gathered by GOA we believe that the ATT will, at the very least, require gun owner registration and microstamping of ammunition.

The ATT will define manufacturing so broadly that any gun owner who adds an accessory such as a scope or changes a stock on a firearm would be required to obtain a manufacturing license.

It would also likely include a ban on many semi-automatic firearms (like the Clinton gun ban) and demand the mandatory destruction of surplus ammo and confiscated firearms.

President Obama, not surprisingly, welcomes the treaty.  He knows that he is unlikely to get such radical proposals through the Congress, so the UN provides him a backdoor way to enact gun control.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is also on board and began pushing for the treaty as soon as she was confirmed in her position.  “The United States is prepared to work hard for a strong international standard in this area,” she said.

Since treaties must be ratified by the Senate, GOA is working continually to buck up weak-kneed Senators who might be pressured to ratify the treaty.

But the House, which controls the nations’ purse strings, can also play a role in killing the ATT (or any other anti-gun treaty, for that matter).

Rep. Joe Walsh’s legislation will cut U.S. funding to the UN if the international body imposes any restrictions on Americans’ gun rights.

This is a huge deal, because without the contributions of the United States, the UN would be crippled financially.  According to government reports, U.S. taxpayers foot the bill for 22 percent of the UN’s regular budget and 27 percent of its “peacekeeping” budget.

American gun owners, in other words, are funding the organization that wants to do away with the Second Amendment!

Rep. Walsh is putting the UN on notice: back off our gun rights.

Entitled the “The Second Amendment Protection Act of 2011,” Rep. Walsh is now seeking original cosponsors to join him in the House.  He plans to introduce the bill within the next week.

Rep. Walsh highlights for his House colleagues the necessity of his proposal, noting that:

  • It is the constitutional power of Congress to determine United States foreign policy through the ratification of international treaties;
  • U.S. Presidents, by signing on to treaties, have opened the door for international organizations to unilaterally regulate the lives of citizens of the United States;
  • International and transnational organizations force their rules on people of the United States through conventions, multilateral agreements, and nonratified treaties, such as agreements that affect the private ownership of firearms by law-abiding citizens; and
  • United States sovereignty is risked by domestic legal applicability of international treaties and executive agreements that have not been voted on and congressionally adopted through formal processes.

Let’s help Rep. Joe Walsh get as many cosponsors as possible.  In the process, we’ll find out how many Representatives are willing to stand up to the behemoth United Nations in defense of the Second Amendment.
